BUFFALO, N.Y. — The University at Buffalo will hold a full-scale, emergency training exercise on Wednesday, Aug. 1, from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in and around Hadley Village on UB’s North Campus.
The exercise will focus on emergency response to an active shooter incident on campus and is being staged by UB’s Emergency Management department, in collaboration with local, state and federal emergency responders. It will involve a simulation of the university’s crisis response plan and procedures and will help assure a coordinated, timely and effective response and recovery in the event of a major incident at the university.
There will be significant law enforcement, fire and emergency service present during the exercise. In order to avoid any confusion, the public is being notified ahead of time. The exercise is closed to the campus community and the general public.
During the exercise, access to the Cooke A and B parking lots on the North Campus, as well as Hadley Village parking lots, will be temporarily unavailable. Access to Hadley Road between Rensch and Augspurger roads will also be unavailable.
Media Availability: Because of the sensitive nature of the activities, media presence will not be permitted during the exercise as it unfolds. Co-directors of the exercise will be available for media interviews prior to the start of the activities, between 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. Members of the media should enter campus on Rensch Road on the North campus and can park in the Rensch Road loop.
