Zodiaque Dance Company's Celebration 45, presented by UB Theatre and Dance

BUFFALO, NY - UB Theatre and Dance Presents  Zodiaque Dance Company - Celebration 45 45th Anniversary Celebration! Directed by Kerry Ring and Jenna Del Monte November 15-18, 2018. Part of the UB Department of Theatre & Dance 2018 – 2019 Season.

Under the direction of Kerry Ring and Jenna Del Monte, the 2018-19 academic year marks the 45th anniversary of Zodiaque Dance Company.  The Company kicks-off this anniversary year by presenting CELEBRATION 45, an awe-inspiring array of diversified choreography performed by current UB dancers.  The company exhibits a tremendous range of styles and repertory and fosters tradition, while continuing to encourage the creation of new works by faculty, students, alumni and guest choreographers.  CELEBRATION 45 highlights include: works choreographed by UB Dance faculty/alumna member Danielle Sheather (2003); directors/faculty Kerry Ring and Jenna Del Monte; alumnus Richard Ashworth (2007); past honoree Chanon Judson (2008) and alumna (2002); past director of Music Theatre, Lynne Kurdziel Formato; and MFA in Dance candidate Nitya Seshadri.  Rounding out the evening will be featured guest choreography by Bryan Strimpel Baira & Shaina Branfman Baira, and Zodiaque's signature bow staged by Zodiaque Immediate Past Artistic Director, Tom Ralabate.  Guest alumni lighting designers are Andrew DG Hunt and Tannis Kappel, and illuminating the awards pre-show will be student lighting designer Joe Crumlish.  

On Friday, November 16, a special GALA performance of CELEBRATION 45 will ignite the Center for the Arts.  Highlighted that evening will be a 7 p.m. pre-show to the concert with the awarding of the first Marilyn Bonfiglio Ciancio Zodiaque Award; a presentation by Zodiaque Studio Dance Ensemble choreographed by recent UB Dance/Zodiaque graduates, Rachel Latke & Jessica Levin, and the presentation of Zodiaque Distinguished Alumni Awards and Zodiaque Directors' Awards.  Honorees for the evening include:  UB Dance Director Jeanne Fornarola; Matt Pardo (2007); Jinah Parker (2004); Karen Schupp (1996); and posthumously Cathleen Wendel Lista (1997).  The celebration will conclude with a reception and a gathering of UB Theatre & Dance and Zodiaque alumni, friends, and guests in the Center for the Arts Atrium.  Tickets can be purchased at ubcfa.org/tickets.
