BUFFALO, N.Y. — Members of the public attending tonight’s speech by former Vice President Joe Biden will not be allowed to carry backpacks or large bags into the University at Buffalo’s Alumni Arena.
The security measure is in response to the recent targeting of political figures.
Additionally, attendees will be required to pass through metal detectors, and all coats and small bags will be searched. These security measures are used during visits by very prominent guest speakers to campus.
Attendees are advised to arrive early.
Approximately 6,500 people are expected to attend the speech, which will occur at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. for ticketed patrons. Prior to that, the venue will be subjected to a security sweep to ensure the safety of all those in attendance.
