BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo Department of Theatre and Dance presents the 46th anniversary of Zodiaque Dance Company (ZDC), UB’s premiere resident student dance ensemble.

Under the leadership of Kerry Ring, artistic director, and Jenna Del Monte, managing director, ZDC is one of the oldest student companies in the United States. The group’s annual fall program will have public performances at UB Center for the Arts Drama Theatre in Amherst, NY on Thursday, October 17 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 2 p.m.

ZDC continues to be an innovative force, advancing students’s talents through creative investigations and stimulating collaborations. With choreography by esteemed faculty and international professional guest artists, this fall ZDC will ask, What is Dance?”

Audiences will be indulged in various styles of dance, including popular American forms and interpretive expressions of contemporary movement. The fall concert will include choreography by: former dance faculty and alumna Danielle Sheather (2003); faculty Kerry Ring and Jenna Del Monte; and former faculty member William Thomas. In addition, current MFA dance student Mary Schnepf will present “As Within, So Without,” a dance on film; and department faculty and previous ZDC Artistic Director Tom Ralabate will create a capoeira and jazz fusion dance.

Other highlights of the concert include works by professional guest artists-in-residence, Entity Contemporary Dance – a Los Angeles based group which forges connections between hip hop, contemporary, and modern. UB dance alumna Angel Mammoliti (2016) is a member and will be involved in restaging one of their recent works on senior ZDC students. In addition, Ali Dietz, a New York City-based tap dancer and choreographer, will highlight ZDC’s rhythm and tap skills. Illuminating the concert will be student lighting designer Hannah Mackey.
