Michael Glick receives 2020 Distinguished Dental Editor Award

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Michael Glick, DMD, professor of oral diagnostic sciences in the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, received the 2020 Distinguished Dental Editor Award from the American Association of Dental Editors & Journalists (AADEJ) and the American Dental Association.

The Distinguished Dental Editor Award recognizes editors who have brought exceptional credit to their society, dental journalism, the dental profession and organized dentistry through the production of high-quality publications and superior leadership. Glick was honored at the 2020 AADEJ Annual Conference last October.

Glick has served as an editor for numerous academic journals, including for 16 years as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American Dental Association. He has also published more than 300 journal articles and book chapters, as well as edited 10 textbooks.

He has received countless awards for his entrepreneurship, teaching, community service, clinical and professional work, and editorial activities. Since 2009, Glick has received eight William J. Gies Editorial Awards from the AADEJ and American Dental Education Association. As a renowned researcher in interdisciplinary oral health care, he is the recipient of more than $6 million in grant funding.

Glick served as dean of the UB School of Dental Medicine from 2009-15, is a past president of the American Board of Oral Medicine, and presently co-chairs the FDI World Dental Federation’s Vision 2020 Think Tank.

He received both a bachelor’s degree in medical sciences and a doctorate of dental medicine from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and a doctorate of dental medicine from Temple University.
