An article in The New York Times reports on UB research that shows that women who drink moderate amounts of alcohol may reduce their risk of nonfatal heart attack, provided that they do not become drunk, and quotes Joan M. Dorn, associate professor of social and preventive medicine. "The findings have important implications," she said. "But I wouldn't interpret these findings as a reason to begin drinking alcohol. The message is that a small amount is O.K., and drinking to intoxication can be harmful." Go to article.
