Judith Adams-Volpe, director of communication and development in the UB Libraries and an amusement park researcher, is quoted in an article in The Wichita Eagle on reasons behind the closing of Wild West World, a local amusement park. "Any number of Wild West parks were tried in the late 1960s and the early 1970s. None of them lasted very long at all, and it's for all the reasons we've said -- not a broad enough demographic appeal," she said. "The re-enactments, if they try them, tend to be hokey, and when you compare that to today's virtual reality experience, it pales by comparison." Go to article.
