An article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on plans by the Disney Corp. to shut down its Virtual Magic Kingdom, a game that lets players interact with one another in an online theme park, quotes Michael Stefanone, assistant professor of communication and an expert on social media and its cultural impacts. "These virtual places are easily replaced," he said. "There are lots of options out there....When a close friend moves away, it's painful. But in the end, those lessons are a good thing."
