Elayne Rapping, professor of American studies and a nationally recognized authority on pop culture, is quoted in an article in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle about President Barack Obama's "celebrity" and America's fascination with his family and the effect it could have on his presidency. "That isn't particularly healthy and it isn't particularly realistic. He's got serious work to do. It's not good to think of them as celebrities on the cover of gossip magazines," she said.
