New York Times: "Garage biologists" are the new do-it-yourself amateur scientists

An article in the New York Times about do-it-yourself amateur scientists looks at some of the legal problems these so-called "garage biologists" have encountered, and cites the case of Steve Kurtz, professor of visual studies, who obtained some bacteria from a Pittsburgh geneticist to use in an exhibit, only to find his house surrounded by FBI agents in hazmat suits.
