In a story about how during difficult economic times the average television viewer may resent the "1 percent" yet be drawn to serial dramas about them, Parade Magazine turns to UB's Elayne Rapping to help explain viewer behavior. Elayne Rapping, University at Buffalo professor emerita of American Studies is quoted in the article as saying: "During times of economic stress, when everything's going wrong, people just don't want to deal with real life.
