The UB School of Dental Medicine was featured in a front-page story in the Buffalo News about oral health professionals who are taking a leadership role in a new trend called “chair-side screening,” where dentists check their patients for hypertension, diabetes and HIV. Michael Glick, dean of the School of Dental Medicine, who is editor of the Journal of the American Dental Association, is described in the article as “one of the nation’s leading advocates for change.” “Dentists are health care professionals who happen to be dentists,” he said. “We need to be integrated into the health care of our patients.” The story was arranged by University Communications.
