An article on Fox News reports on research by Jonathan Lovell, assistant professor of biomedical engineering, that uses innovative nanoballoons and lasers to deliver anti-cancer medications straight to the tumor itself, without causing unwanted damage along the way. “I think the most immediate impact would be affecting people who are suffering from conditions where a tumor cannot be removed, but that tumor is causing extreme quality of life issues, such as bowel blockages and things like pancreas malfunction,” he said. Articles about his research also appeared on Futurity, Science Codex and R&D Magazine.
