The Buffalo News reported on UB President Satish K. Tripathi’s state of the university address which took place Oct. 17 in UB’s Slee Hall. The article quoted Tripathi as saying “We are on the brink of a new future for our region as UB plays a vital role in Buffalo’s resurgence. We will make Buffalo a national model for how to transform a Rust Belt region into a vibrant, world-class destination.” Tripathi also stated that the university has hired 110 new faculty and 157 staff; total research spending rose to $388 million in 2013 – 14, an all-time high; and the university created the Buffalo Institute for Genomics and Data Analytics, an entity that “has the potential to revolutionize the treatment of serious disease.”
