Smoking cessation expert discusses new ways to help people quit

Gary Giovino, professor of health behavior, is quoted in an article in The New York Times about a new study that found that smoking cessation medicine taken over time can substantially improve smokers’ chances of eventually quitting. “The approach taken here is a very reasonable one that appears to have been successful,” he said. “But the findings from one study do not make a fact. We need more studies, funded by someone other than the company that makes the product.”
