NPR’s Here & Now interviewed John Violanti, research professor of epidemiology and environmental health, for a story about the McKinney, Texas, police officer who resigned after he was filmed wrestling a black teenager in a bikini to the ground at a pool party. Violanti was interviewed about whether the officer was stressed by two earlier suicide calls and what is standard operating procedure for a police officer after a traumatic call. “We need to better track the mental state of officers,” he said.
