OPM hack raises questions about security of government contractors

Arun Vishwanath, associate professor of communication and an expert on cyber psychology and online deception, is quoted in an article in USA Today about the massive hack of the Office of Personnel Management and whether government contractors may have inadvertently made the agency more vulnerable to attack. “It’s not realistic for the government to stop using contractors,” he said. “We’re living in a world where we need these guys because they are much more efficient that federal bureaucracies, let’s be honest. But the risk is if they get hacked, the government gets hacked.”
