An article in The Atlantic about Cincinnati’s Lincoln Heights neighborhood and the systemic racism that hampered the goals of those who were trying to build one of the first black suburbs in the country quotes Henry Louis Taylor, UB professor of urban and regional planning, who wrote his dissertation on Lincoln Heights. “The notion of suburbanization, of neighborhood opportunities, all of that is embedded in that fantasy that black people can move to freedom, and we can’t,” he said.
