An article in TIME Magazine about the benefits of chewing gum, including boosting mood and alertness while combatting stress, reports those benefits may not include helping people to eat healthier, and notes a study by Jennifer Temple, associate professor of exercise and nutrition sciences, found that those who chewed mint gum before eating were less inclined to reach for healthy foods like fruit. “For some people, mint makes fruit taste awful,” she said.
