An article on the front-page of the Buffalo News features Joseph Gardella Jr., SUNY Distinguished Professor and John and Frances Larkin Professor of Chemistry, and the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Partnership, a program that brings Buffalo teachers to UB and SUNY Buffalo State each summer to conduct research alongside faculty and graduate students and gather ideas on how to make science more interesting and hands-on for their students. “It’s not just an equality issue, it’s a workforce-development issue,” he said. “If we leave out all these kids, we really will not have the workforce we need.” The article also was included in First Bell, a weekday newsletter of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), which is available only to ASEE members.
