An article in Wired magazine about the math behind picking the right Powerball numbers interviews Jeffrey Miecznikowski, associate professor of biostatistics. “By making the odds more difficult, it guaranteed record jackpots because it is rolling over every time,” he said. “The publicity that Powerball has gotten setting record jackpots has really fueled popularity of the game.” He also is quoted articles on Mic and Bustle about the odds of winning. In addition, Miecznikowski is quoted in an article in Kiplinger about the myriad issues facing the winner, who suddenly has to make decisions on what to do with that sudden wealth, and in an article in the Syracuse Post-Standard about the safest ways to play the lottery as a group.
