An article in The Wall Street Journal about the rising number of infants born in Brazil with microcephaly believed to be caused by the Zika virus quotes Jared Aldstadt, a medical geographer and UB associate professor of geography, who said the spread of Zika infections in Brazil, along with the surge in suspected microcephaly cases, isn’t a coincidence. “Strong correlation is a pretty good clue to causation,” he said.
