End of Apple-FBI dispute could intensify larger fight over data privacy

An article in The Wall Street Journal about the end of the Apple-FBI legal battle over a dead terrorist’s phone and the broader fight about privacy and encryption quotes Mark Bartholomew, professor of law who specializes in privacy and cybersecurity, who said, technology firms will now “go full-speed ahead on full encryption and fuller encryptions.” He also was quoted in a story on ABC News about implications for the future. “This seemed like the perfect case and that has evaporated but now the question is, will Congress step in?” he said. “This is such an important story, so I could see Congress weighing in on the issue.” Bartholomew also was interviewed on KCBS Radio in San Francisco; that interview is not available online.
