An article in USA Today about the Senate stalemate over the nomination of Merrick Garland to the U.S. Supreme Court, despite a recent national poll that showed that 53 percent of American say the Senate should vote on his nomination, quotes Jacob Neiheisel, assistant professor of political science. “In the abstract, it might look good for a senator to be bipartisan,” he said. “But constituents want their senators to do what they want them to do. And right now a majority of Republicans want them to obstruct.” The story also appeared on television stations around the nation, including WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C., KHOU-TV in Houston, 9NEWS in Denver and WWL-TV in New Orleans.
