An article in TIME Magazine about Friday the 13th and why it is considered unlucky quotes Phil Stevens, associate professor of anthropology, who said many believe it originates from the Last Supper and the 13 guests who sat at the table on the day before the Friday on which Jesus was crucified. “The number 13 became a problematic number because of the number of people at that table during that fateful event,” he said. Stevens was quoted in news outlets around the world, including CFXJ-FM in Toronto, the Birmingham News, Zee News in India and Australia News Network.
