Researchers create homemade lava -- for science, of course

The Huffington Post reports on research by UB geologists who are making their own lava to better understand what happens when molten rock mixes with water, an interaction that  sometimes causes huge explosions. “No one has done it before on this scale, and these lava-water interactions aren’t well understood,” said UB geology postdoctoral researcher Alison Graettinger.
