An article in the Buffalo News about Friday’s State of the University address by UB President Satish K. Tripathi reports the university will launch a fundraising campaign in the spring. With state investment in public higher education on a downward decline for years, philanthropy will be critical to sustaining efforts to attract the finest students and faculty to the state's largest public university, he said. Philanthropic giving "becomes the great differentiator. It means the difference between being very good and being in the highest tier of research universities. To accomplish this, we must harness the power of philanthropy from every corner of our community – near and far." Stories also appeared in Business First and WBFO-FM.
