Caring for elders is causing declines in workforce among women

A New York Times article discusses how caring for elders is a growing factor in the declining participation in the labor force by women. It references a study by Sean Fahle, associate professor in the Department of Economics, which tracked women in their early 50s and early 60s and found that those who provided care to an older relative were 8 percent less likely to work and more likely to cut their hours at work.
