Are our animal protection laws adequate?

An article in The Atlantic about an animal advocacy group and its effort to remove an elephant from the Bronx Zoo to an animal sanctuary quoted Irus Braverman, a professor in the School of Law, regarding how the law treats animals. Said Braverman: “For the most part, there’s been an invisibility to anything but humans throughout the legal system. We have to bring the animals back in.”
