China's recent visit to the moon will yield new information

Wired interviewed Tracy Gregg in an article on China’s Chang’e-5 spacecraft’s mission to collect volcanic matter from the Moon’s Oceanus Procellarum, a frozen sea of lava called a maria. The mission will collect the first samples gathered from the Moon in 44 years. “We will learn something really cool about the strangest lunar maria,” says Gregg. “But it is not necessarily going to be representative of all the other maria.”
