U.S. News & World Report quotes Larry Hawk about how there has been a continued push to diversify clinical trials after the pandemic. Despite the promise of decentralized approaches, some people are concerned that more needs to be known before a wider shift occurs. Hawk, along with Jennifer Dahne, an associate professor in the College of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina, recently wrote together that while decentralization has the potential to address inequities in clinical trials, a reliance on digital tools may exclude the very communities such approaches were meant to reach, as “many groups facing health disparities also have lower technology uptake.”
