The Buffalo News reports that SUNY Chancellor John B. King, Jr. visited UB on Wednesday “to experience and spotlight the groundbreaking AI research taking place at the SUNY flagship school and celebrate UB’s progress toward becoming a top public research university.” “The world is likely to change as much in the next hundred years as it has changed in the last thousand years,” King said. “We have a chance to create new innovations that will better the life of the planet and its inhabitants.” On WIVB-TV, Tripathi noted that UB’s multidisciplinary approach to AI will provide students with “knowledge about AI, but also the impact of AI; what could go wrong.” King and Tripathi helped launch UB | AI Chat Series, a new discussion series spotlighting how UB is harnessing the technology for the betterment of society. The Buffalo News also posted a video of Venu Govindaraju, UB vice president for research and economic development, speaking at the event. WKBW-TV also reported on the event; that report is not available online.
