Big changes to how you buy and sell a home go into effect today

CNN quotes Tanya Monestier on new changes to client-broker contracts when buying a home. The changes include a new contract that must be signed before buyers can begin touring homes, as well as a restriction on advertising commission rates to “steer” buyers to certain agencies. “By not having commission on the MLS anymore, it makes it harder to steer, because you can’t just do a search for 3% commissions,” said Monestier. “You can still call everyone up and figure out what the lay of the land is, but this just makes it much harder.”
