The New York Post quotes Cassandra Jacobs in an article about a new app that “dumbs down” and whitewashes classic texts. Jacobs called the app “alarming,” noting exposure to complicated text “makes us smarter.” Authors choose specific words very deliberately when they write, and these ideas will get lost via AI, Jacobs said. “There might be some discrepancies when a whole book is ingested and an abridged version’s spit out and could give people a different idea about what these stories are about.”
