The New York Times quotes J. Luke Pryor, in an article about the physical changes our bodies experience to adapt to the heat. “It kind of hits you like a sledgehammer,” he said. Retaining electrolytes and regulating core temperature better can make people feel more comfortable and capable of exerting themselves for longer periods in high temperatures, Pryor said.
