Al Jazeera quoted James Gardner, SUNY Distinguished Professor and Bridget and Thomas Black Professor in the School of Law, in an article about the U.S. presidential election and why counting votes sometimes takes longer, and is not a sign of fraud. “[The Republican Party] believes that it deserves to be in power regardless of electoral outcomes. So as a result, it does not adhere to any of the ethics of democratic fair play. Democracy is based on fair rules of fair competition, and the Trump Republican Party is not committed to those.”
