A Reuters article, which was shared by more than 400 news outlets worldwide, including U.S. News & World Report and Daily Mail, features comments by Charlotte Lindqvist, professor in the Department of Biological Sciences. Chris Wright, who is President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to be the next leader of the Department of Energy, recently published a report that conflicts with mainstream science. The report states that fossil fuels are the key to ending world poverty which, he says, is a greater problem than climate change's "distant" threat. The report also says the number of polar bears is rising, without evidence. Lindqvist said polar bear populations are not increasing, and the species is losing its sea ice habitats.
