The advantage of these systems is that they deliver consistent and authoritative summary information to their publics without requiring users to know details about the underlying data or the processes by which they are created.
The campus preference is to have users access university data via the centrally developed sources:
Users requesting Infosource access are often technical staff tasked with developing specific applications requiring access to foundational detail upon which the summaries are based.
The primary ingredients involved with requesting access to UB data are:
See data access background for additional details.

If you require access to Infosource please forward a request to the appropriate data steward/trustee.
Your access to campus information will be determined by the specific trustee and/or steward associated with the data you’d like to obtain. Bear in mind the University at Buffalo is the owner of all university data, and these individuals simply maintain the security of information entrusted to them per the Data Governance effort.
See Data Trustee and Steward Roles along with other definitions relating to data access.
