On January 26, 2024, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the University at Buffalo will be the home of Empire AI, the proposed $400 million public-private consortium aimed at accelerating research and innovation in AI and placing New York State at the forefront of the AI revolution. 

With decades of pioneering work in AI, UB is extremely well suited to be the location for this exciting initiative. Empire AI's state-of-the-art AI computing center on UB's North Campus will facilitate innovation, responsible research and economic development in the state.
