Remembering Joel Coughlin

We want to share with you that the memorial to our beloved teacher, Joel Coughlin (1973-2018), who passed away this past February, has been installed on the Preschool playground on the North Campus.

Joel was a Preschool Teacher at UBCCC North from 2008-2017.

Cathy Smith (SC Program Coordinator) kindly donated a maple tree from her property, and many families and UBCCC staff gave generously for the bench and plaque.  [Dan Ball (NC Toddler Teacher) gave us the quote for the plaque – from a song by Pearl Jam – a band he and Joel would often talk about.] 

The children have already begun enjoying the bench, and after sitting on it today, Colin Packard (Preschool 3 NC) declared, “This is beautiful!” 

We agree wholeheartedly – and it is a wonderful tribute to Joel.
