Samuel L. Albert, a dentist and former instructor in the UB School of Dental Medicine, died Jan. 26 in his Town of Tonawanda home after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 92.
Born in Buffalo, Albert graduated from Canisius College. He was a chemist working on the Manhattan Project before attending the Georgetown University School of Dentistry. He also attended the Dewey School of Orthodontia.
A Navy veteran, he attained the rank of lieutenant commander.
Albert maintained a private practice in the Town of Tonawanda until about five years ago and headed the dental clinic at the Buffalo Psychiatric Center for 36 years. He also taught at the UB dental school.
He was a member of the Eighth District Dental Guild, the Fonzi Club and the American Endodontic Society.
A memorial service will be held during the summer.
