UB’s resident adventurer Russ Crispell is offering members of the university community a chance to hike a glacier, pan for gold and see a moose — up close and personal — this spring as part of UB Outdoor Pursuits’ annual guided trip to Alaska.
Crispell, assistant director of recreation and director of Outdoor Pursuits, will lead the trip, tentatively scheduled for May 19-28.
The cost of the trip, which is open to faculty, staff, students and members of the broader community, is $1,195, plus airfare, which typically runs from $600-$700. The fee includes guides, ground transportation, backcountry meals, group gear and camping fees. A $795 deposit is due Feb. 1, with the balance due by April 15.
Crispell is a New York State licensed guide and is certified as a wilderness first responder, wilderness first aid instructor and instructor for the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association and the National Safety Council. This will be his 15th trip to Alaska.
