The Department of Theatre & Dance will present the Zodiaque Dance Company in its spring concert, “CELEBRATION 40 dances on…,” Feb. 26 through March 2 in the Drama Theatre in the Center for the Arts, North Campus.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. A special pre-show performance featuring students from Buffalo public school 67 (Discovery School) will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
“CELEBRATION 40 dances on…,” marks the conclusion of the Zodiaque Dance Company’s 40th concert season with a program filled with an awe-inspiring and diverse array of choreography by guest alumni and UB dance faculty members performed by UB dancers.
Contributing choreographers include alumni Anne Beck, Shana Bonetti, Joe Celej, Jon Lehrer, Matt Pardo and Leanne Rinelli, and faculty members Melanie Aceto; Tressa Crehan, Zodiaque managing director; and Tom Ralabate, Zodiaque artistic director.
The March 1 pre-show lecture-demonstration featuring Discovery School students and Zodiaque company members will showcase Bridging Communities through Dance, a joint project funded by First Niagara Bank.
Since its formation in 1973, Zodiaque Dance Company has energized established audiences and attracted new ones with a passion for dance that has put the company at the forefront of diverse artistic expression in the university setting.
Tickets for “CELEBRATION 40 dances on…,” are $20 for general admission and $10 for all students and seniors, and can be obtained at the Center for the Arts box office and at tickets.com.
