UB Women in STEM, a group on campus dedicated to advancing women in STEM fields, has launched a Brown Bag Lunch Lecture Series aimed at exploring gender differences in STEM careers.
The inaugural lecture in the series will take place from noon to 1 p.m. July 29 in 108 Capen Hall inside the Honors College in Silverman Library. It is free and open to the public. Attendees are urged to bring their lunch.
The speaker will be Lora Park, associate professor of psychology, who will discuss social psychological research on the effects of romantic goal pursuit in shaping women’s interest in the traditionally male-dominated STEM — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — fields, including implications for women's motivation and performance in STEM.
Although the event is free, space is limited and participants are urged to register in advance.
