UB faculty members Claude Welch and Jeannette Ludwig will be honored by the Newman Centers at UB during the 39th annual Convocation and Liturgy of the Holy Spirit on Sept. 27.

The convocation, which marks the opening of the 2015-16 academic year, will begin at 11:30 a.m. in St. Joseph University Church, 3629 Main St., adjacent to the South Campus.

Welch, SUNY Distinguished Service Professor in the Department of Political Science, and Ludwig, associate professor in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, will receive the Newman Award, the highest honor given by the Newman Centers, in recognition of their untiring work for the entire UB community and all of Western New York

All members of the campus community are invited to attend.
