Eliezer Schwarzberg, a former electrician at UB, died July 24 in hospice at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. He was 90.
Schwarzberg escaped from his native Poland to the Soviet Union when the Nazis invaded in 1939, later making his way to Palestine, where he served in the British Army during World War II. He then fought with the Israeli army in 1948, 1956 and 1967.
He came to the United States in 1967 and joined the UB staff as an electrician in 1973. He retired in 1988.
A talented amateur sculptor, he exhibited his work at UB in the early 1980s.
