Humanities Night is hosted by Erik Seeman, professor of history and director of the Humanities Institute, and Libby Otto, professor of art and executive director.

The play to be performed is “The Shipment,” Young Jean Lee’s provocative examination of race. It was reviewed favorably by The New York Times and The New Yorker when it premiered in 2009.

The evening will start with a pre-show talk by Lindsay Brandon Hunter, assistant professor in the Department of Theatre & Dance. Discussion begins at 7 p.m., the performance starts at 7:30 p.m. in the theater, housed in the Adam Mickiewicz Library and Dramatic Circle, 612 North Fillmore Ave. in the historic Polonia District on Buffalo’s East Side.

A full bar is open before and after the show and during intermission.

Tickets are $15, a reduction from the regular price of $25.

Tickets can be purchased at the door, but reservations must be made by Feb. 16 by emailing Jinhee Song at huminst@buffalo.edu.
