A free webinar designed to help faculty and staff support students who identify across the range of sexual and gender identities present on college campuses today will take place from 2-3:30 p.m. April 13 in C134-135 Greiner Hall, North Campus.
“LGBTQ & Beyond: Create a Welcoming, Inclusive Campus Environment” is sponsored by the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and Wellness Education Services.
Leading the webinar will be Shane Windmeyer, executive director and co-founder of Campus Pride, and Genny Beemyn, director of the Stonewall Center at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a research consultant for Campus Pride. Campus Pride is a national nonprofit for student leaders and campus groups working to create a safer college environment for LGBTQ students.
Topics to be addressed during the webinar include current terminology used by college students to describe their sexual and gender identities, the personal stories of students who identify outside of the traditional sexual and gender groups, and resources to help campuses in educating their communities about these non-traditional identities.
