The term “10 out of 12” refers to the 12-hour rehearsal day in which a maximum of 10 hours are spent working on lights, sound, costumes and other technical elements.
In her play, Washburn takes the audience on a journey into the backstage world of a technical rehearsal. Audience members will listen as the sound designer mixes cues, eavesdrop on backstage gossip as it happens over the headset and watch the director struggle to contain the uncontainable.
“10 out of 12” is a wry and absorbing look at how work forms us and deforms us.
