Jose Aviles, associate vice provost and director of admissions, is leaving his position at UB to become the inaugural senior associate vice president of enrollment management and chief enrollment officer at Louisiana State University.
His final day at UB is June 23.
A national search for Aviles’ successor will begin early in the fall, according to Lee H. Melvin, vice provost for enrollment management.
Melvin notes that under Aviles’ leadership, “UB experienced record-breaking results in every stage of the admission funnel.” Among them are the largest applicant pool in school history — more than 27,000 applications — as well as an increased SAT profile for the applicant pool, admitted class and matriculated incoming freshmen, and a 25 percent increase in the diversity of the applicant pool, which, Melvin says, led to enrollment of the most diverse classes in UB history.
